2 Tmothy 1:3-5(NIV)
3 I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. 4 Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. 5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.
There are some web-sites where you can do some research and look at your ancestry and family tree. It is interesting to know about your ancestors and their background. Some people are fortunate to have some historical information or stories about their families passed on from generation to generation.
We live on this earth for a short period of time and it depends on what we do and who we become on whether it will be remembered. Timothy was fortunate to have an example from his grandmother who modeled the example of Christ for him at such a young age. Paul was a servant of God and remembers about his ancestors who also served God. This is challenging for all of us to think about our demise, but we do need to ask ourselves what kind of legacy will we leave behind? What will we be remembered for? Paul left a legacy of being one of the best missionaries in the world.
