8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
9 He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
It’s very nice to have a plaque on your wall for employee of the month or a special recognition from your supervisor in a written e-mail that acknowledges your effort and success in your work. Students also want to come home to show their parents that they received an ‘A’ in their report cards. Seldom do we highlight to others that we have a failed marriage, that you failed in your exam or that you had a felony charge many years ago.
The good news is that due to the blood of Christ, God will also forget all of our mistakes. Anything that we have done in the past, present or future; God will not hold it against us. There is a great freedom that has been given to us so that our past mistakes should not and do not shackle us down, making us feel that we are not worthy of the freedom that has been given because Jesus died for our transgressions. God has removed all of our transgressions from us and that should result in a life full of gratitude and thankfulness. When God looks down on us, we are honor students that would make Him proud.
