Winning with God
11 But the Lord is with me like a mighty warrior;
so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail.
They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced;
their dishonor will never be forgotten.
12 Lord Almighty, you who examine the righteous
and probe the heart and mind,
let me see your vengeance on them,
for to you I have committed my cause.
Today is the opening day for the summer Olympic Games in Rio. Athletes all over the world have spent money, time, energy and strength to attempt to come away as a winner. There are those who are happy to be there, knowing that they will not be in the top tier, but looking to do their personal best. When those athletes are starting out and see their opponents are champions, they don’t despair, but think of what they can become with improvement.
Jeremiah says that the Lord is with him like a mighty warrior. God is not a rookie when it comes to battle and God doesn’t lose. When we take that thought into our lives, we have a champion on our side to battle for our spiritual lives. We are constantly at battle with Satan and God can help us win those battles. We just need to keep going along our journey and never quit. With God on our side, we cannot lose.
