Trust In The Lord
25 Fear of man will prove to be a snare,
but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.
Many of us have life experiences where our outcome in life would be different if we weren’t so concerned what others would think of us. This happens a lot in high school and I recall trying to fit in and be cool and going with the flow as I didn’t want to be on the outside of the group of guys I thought were ‘cool’. It is why so many youth may get involved with gangs as they want to be accepted and be part of something, but also at the same time, fearful of not being part of the gang. At work, we may be tempted to join the gossip and not to be the outsider.
This proverb highlights a fundamental truth for many of us. When we don’t have a trust in the Lord, we can be swayed by popular opinion of what is right and wrong and that can lead us down the wrong path of our Spiritual lives. God knows what is best for us and He will keep us safe when we trust in Him and in His teachings. We may think that the teachings in the Bible can jeopardize our jobs if our boss is asking us to do something wrong and we should stand our ground and reject the authority who wants us to go against our conscience. Trust in the God who has and always will provide for us.
