Psalm 25:4-5 (NIV)
4 Show me your ways, Lord,
teach me your paths.
5 Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.
As children go back to school, their teachers will be teaching them on many subjects. Children are natural learners as they absorb and soak in this information. David expressed his desire to God for guidance. He wanted to be shown the way and to be taught. In this day and age, how do we get taught by God and shown His ways? You can ask somebody at the Church that you are attending on what the Bible teaches, but ultimately it comes down to your own personal study of the Bible. God’s primary guidance system is the Bible.
By reading and constantly learning the wisdom from God’s word, you will have a better understanding of the path that God wants you to take. David was asking for guidance and was not demanding it. In my prayer life, I need to be humble and ask God for guidance so that I can understand which way to go when making decisions. David is also showing how he trusted in God all day long. David is a great example of a man with a humble heart who desires to continue to learn and grow in his relationship with God. It’s time to be a Berean and to have a heart that wants to learn more about God.
