Return to the Lord
40 Let us examine our ways and test them,
and let us return to the Lord.
41 Let us lift up our hearts and our hands
to God in heaven, and say:
42 “We have sinned and rebelled
and you have not forgiven.
One of the toughest things for me to do is to evaluate myself. At work, it may be easier to evaluate myself as they give you guidelines based on your job description. When it comes to examining my ways and testing them, it is not easy. It means admitting that I am not as good as I could be and that there’s a lot of improvement required. It means a lot of work and sometimes, it is easier just to not do anything and to stay the way you are.
The Bible says that we may not experience success in our lives because of the actions that we take. We should examine our ways, test them and return to the Lord. This implies that we have rebelled and did what we wanted to do and opposing God, only to realize that God knows what is best for us. The good news is that the Lord will forgive when we can repent and turn back to Him.
