Remember the Teaching
1My son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,
2 for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you peace and prosperity.
3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.
Although it is summer break, I remind my children to take a break on screen time from the computer and television and to read a book. It is one of the recommendations that their teachers recommend throughout the year as it will help them to continue to develop their vocabulary and in their brain function in creativity and imagination. I’m thinking of signing up a tutor for one of my children for the summer so that he doesn’t forget some of the principles that he learned in school.
As adults, we tend to think that we know it all. We have careers and we own stuff. If somebody asks us a question, we can probably answer them as we have knowledge on a lot of subjects that we can easily find on the internet. What about the teachings from the Bible? Certainly, we can read about a topic years ago and then forget or let it go. God wants us not to forget his teaching and to keep his commands in our hearts. It means going back to God’s word on a daily basis.
