Praise for Spiritual Blessings
Ephesians 1: 3-8 (NIV)
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us.
For those who are part of the Kingdom of God, we truly are blessed. We may not feel that way from day to day, but if you embrace God’s words, let Him remind you that you are blessed and you are loved. When I look at the word predestined, it catches my attention. It means predetermined or mark out beforehand. In this world, there are few things that I feel that I was predestined for. My career, school, number of children or what kind of car I will drive are not something that was determined by my parents or as my goal when I was a child. In God’s infinite realm, he knows us and has determined to adopt us as His children through Christ.
There are some people who have gone through the adoption process that would have gone through the experience that resonates with this passage. The adopted parents decide to adopt a child and will love them unconditionally as their own, lavishing love upon that child. This is how God treats those whom he has chosen out of his glorious grace. Praise be to God for the rich blessings that he has poured on us.
