Power of Prayer
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
Prayer is one of the hardest things for me to learn when I started going to Church and today, it is still not easy for me to be consistent in prayer. There are extroverts who talk a lot and introverts who can be shy, but there is no correlation between the two as prayer is a matter of faith. Even a quiet person could pray more than the most talkative person.
Paul reminds us to pray in the Spirit on all occasions. This means more than just praying when I get up and praying before I eat and before I sleep. It is a challenge to pray throughout the day and to be mindful of what we are praying for. Paul was certainly a prayer warrior and he was asking others to pray for him, showing his humility and the need for prayer. Certainly it looks like there is power in prayer and he has faith that the prayer from others will make a difference.
