13 As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.
15 The life of mortals is like grass,
they flourish like a flower of the field;
16 the wind blows over it and it is gone,
and its place remembers it no more.
17 But from everlasting to everlasting
the Lord’s love is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children’s children—
18 with those who keep his covenant
and remember to obey his precepts.
The world celebrated father’s day and many honoured their father through cards, gifts, telephone calls or time spent at restaurants or a sporting activity. Unfortunately, there are many children who do not know their fathers or have estranged relationships with their fathers. There has been an ever growing situation of single moms raising their children or even fathers who are not engaged or spending time with their children.
The Bible describes God as a father who has compassion on his children. Some of us fathers can be clueless as to how to raise children, but God the father knows how we are formed. He remembers that we are dust and we are mere mortals. The main point is the compassion that he has for us and that he doesn’t waiver in his love for his children. He is unlike earthly fathers who could disappoint. Earthly fathers are great, but cannot compare to a Spiritual Father. He remains faithful to us and He is the perfect father for all of us.
