Peace of Christ
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
We live in a society where convenience is one of the top priorities for people. I drive by every morning and I see people lining up in the drive-through for coffee. Personally, I think it would be faster to park, get out and go into the coffee shop. However, if it is very cold outside and you can stay warm in your car and listen to music or the news. You are multitasking and it is what everybody is doing. It’s very hard for me to stay still and to relax.
There is a peace that is available from Christ. It won’t be the peace from war and fighting that we would like for our world. Instead, it is an inner peace for each of us, knowing that God has chosen us to be part of his family There is no longer any anxiety on whether we are loved or not. God gave up everything for us because of his great love for us. This peace leads to gratitude, which leads to outward rejoicing through psalms, hymns and songs. The challenge is to be able to take time away from the hustle and bustle of life to spend quality time with God.
