Not Just a Baby
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.
Christmas is a few days away and most of the world is celebrating this day with traditional gift exchange, food and time spent with family or friends. Some will acknowledge that this is the day that Jesus was born.
It is remarkable that 740 years BC and the prophecy of Isaiah is so accurate in describing the birth of Jesus Christ. Jesus will be called Wonderful Counselor, Might God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. That’s a lot of responsibility for somebody coming into the world. Most people will recognize baby Jesus but not so much on the other names that are given to Jesus. Let us make it personal and use the word “my”. He is my wonderful Counselor, he is my Mighty God, He is my Everlasting Father and He is my Prince of Peace. It gives me a different view instead of just a baby in a manger.
