No Place Like Home
17 “For behold, I create new heavens
and a new earth,
and the former things shall not be remembered
or come into mind.
18 But be glad and rejoice forever
in that which I create;
for behold, I create Jerusalem to be a joy,
and her people to be a gladness.
After a long day at work or at school, you want to be able to go to a place where you can feel safe and relax. For many of us, that will be our home. Even if you rent your place, it’s still a sanctuary where you can be yourself and sleep at night. There are many less fortunate people who do not have shelter, so they are either in the streets or living in make-shift housing. We have a fundamental need for shelter from the storms. In this wintry cold season, it is just great to have a nice warm home to go to.
I’m fortunate that I have a home on earth, but God promises that there is something better waiting for us. Everything on earth will be gone and whatever memories we have in our current homes will physically be gone. We will have a new Home with Jesus welcoming us and it will be so grand of an experience that we will forget all about our temporary homes on Earth. It’s encouraging to think that we can always be glad and rejoice forever in our new home.
