23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
The other day, I drove out to the other end of the city to meet with my boss and my colleagues as we met for a delayed Christmas dinner together. It was more than just free food, but it was a time for our team to get together for a meal and to be able to talk personally.
The author of Hebrews also reminds us that as believers of Christ, we should meet together. Apparently, some got into the habit of just not showing up and going on their own. The meeting together was connected to our faith and how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds. It is to help us be encouraged and be lifted up when we need to be lifted up.
