17 Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. 18 For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.
I was watching a recap of some highlights of this past year and memorable moments in the major league baseball playoffs. The team may have relied on their ace pitcher, but to win, they also needed the defense and the hitting to work together. There could be an MVP and the MVP would also comment that they could not have done it with the rest of the team.
We are called together to join together not only to follow the examples set before us, but to also be a model and an example for others. Being a follower of Christ means being part of a community and not to be on your own island. There are many enemies of the cross of Christ, so we are either part of the enemy or we are an ally of Christ. We need to consider our loyalties and to be able to join together as a unified group, who are living as best as we can in this New Year.
