Held Together

Colossians 1:15-19(NIV)

15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

I had to fix something over the past weekend.  It was a plastic piece and I used some Gorilla Glue to put the two pieces together.  Tape would not work and any other type of glue would not have done the job of holding the two pieces together.  On other items, I used a combination of the Gorilla Glue and duct tape to reinforce the connection.  If I drop a plate, that’s a different story.  No use to glue up pieces of glass.  It’s best to throw that away.

When it comes to the earth that we live on, there are a lot of laws in place that keep us on this earth.  The Law of Gravity keeps us from spinning off the face of the earth.  The earth rotates at a speed of 460 meters per second or roughly 1000 miles per hour.  This passage is focused on Jesus, who is the image of the invisible God.  Through Jesus, all things were created and it is through Jesus that all things are held together.  It is also Jesus who is the head of the church and he holds the church together as well.  Through the shedding of the blood of Jesus, all things on earth or in heaven are reconciled to him.  If I want my life and my family to be held together, only Jesus can keep it together for me.

Never thought of Him as super glue before but it makes sense since Jesus broke our bonds to sin it binds us to Him and each other.
