22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
I went to the supermarket after work to pick up some vegetables, fruits and meat. Out of the three departments, the fruit section was the brightest and the most colourful. The vegetables were mostly green, but the fruit had much more variety and colour assortment. Many of the fruit have different characteristics and if you compare it to vegetables, most people would rather eat fruit over a vegetable. They are sweet, juicy and tasty compared to eating a celery stick or a piece of broccoli. There is also a skill in learning how to pick the right fruit, otherwise nobody at home will touch the fruit.
The Bible says that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. These are great attributes of character that we should strive for. Like fruit, we can become more likable and can use the fruit of the Spirit to show the world that we received these attributes from the Holy Spirit. The key is to put away the world’s passions and desires and getting rid of the rotten fruit out of our lives.
