Gives us the Energy
1 Timothy 1:7-9(NIV)
7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God. 9 He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,
When my son was playing a soccer game last week, it was very hot and humid. The referee called a break during the halfway point of the first half and the coach provided all of the kids with a bottled sports drink. These sport drinks claim to provide the lost electrolytes that athletes require and the liquids to be replenished after they sweat.
Paul gives Timothy direction about the power of the Holy Spirit. When we feel weak and tired spiritually, we can tap in to the power of the Holy Spirit that God has given to all of His children. It will revitalize us and give us power, love and self-discipline that we can be lacking when we rely on our own strength. There is nothing that we could have done to save ourselves or to give us this type of power, love and self-discipline. It can only come from the grace of God.
