Full of Energy
15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
I rummaged through some old devices as I looked for replacement batteries. It was for a labeller that requires six AAA batteries. I have plenty of AA batteries, but the smaller batteries were harder to find in my home. To save money on batteries, I have been using rechargeable batteries as you can recharge the batteries when the energy level runs low. Otherwise, I buy low-cost batteries for the smoke detectors as the 9V type are not rechargeable. This past weekend was the exception as I bought some premium alkaline batteries for the keyless lock. I didn’t want to be stuck outside with an electronic lock and weak batteries. Like the Energizer bunny, I wanted a battery that kept going and going.
Paul was similar to the Energizer bunny as he kept going and going. When he was imprisoned, he kept praying and writing letters. When he was out on the streets, he kept travelling and preaching the message. In this letter, he did not stop giving thanks for the disciples, remembering them in his prayers. He was persistent and kept going on the strength that God provided him. After my day is done, I’m usually tired and do not have as much energy as I did twenty years ago. All I can do is to ask God to strengthen me and to give me the energy to keep going just as Paul relied on God for his strength. Let God recharge my soul on a daily basis.
