7 On the contrary, they recognized that I had been entrusted with the task of preaching the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been to the circumcised. 8 For God, who was at work in Peter as an apostle to the circumcised, was also at work in me as an apostle to the Gentiles. 9 James, Cephas and John, those esteemed as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. In sports, when a player is traded to a team in which they use to play against, that team would accept the new player as one of their own and hope that they can build some chemistry between each other to win more games. For fourteen years, Paul had been converted to Christ and had been boldly preaching the gospel of Christ. However, there were many churches who never personally met Paul. They only know him as the man who once persecuted the Church is now preaching the gospel that he tried to destroy. It finally took this long to be accepted by the Apostles. Paul was focused on the task that God gave him even though the leadership of the Church was not too trusting yet of this man who tried to kill the Way. We also need to do what is right even though we may not be trusted by some until we prove ourselves.
