Everything is New
2 Corinthians 5:14-19(NIV)
14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
The year is nearing an end and a new year is a few days away. Everybody all over the world will be celebrating the passing of one year in hopes of a great and better year. This is the time when we all make promises, resolutions and determinations to do something such as accomplish a goal and become transformed. This is easier said than done.
The good news is that we are able to be transformed through Jesus Christ with the help of God. When we are ‘in’ Christ, we are a new creation. We no longer have to hang onto the old bad habits we had in the past. God doesn’t hold a grudge against our sins. He lovingly forgives us and allows us to be a new person. If we have the desire to become new this year and are willing to put in the discipline and effort, then God will reward us for that determination.
