9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
As we get less and less daylight each day and the temperatures continue to drop, it just seems so much harder to get up out of bed. Even if we were to get up on time, we still feel tired and lethargic. There are ways to get that energy level back up and that would be to go to bed earlier, eat a healthier diet and get some exercise. This requires us to spend time to think about the changes we need to make each day. As we work each day, we can also become weary of the work that we do.
When it comes to doing good, Paul says that we should not become weary. There will be a positive outcome if we do not give up. Doing good to others requires us to stop thinking about ourselves and to focus our energy, time and resources on others. This is exactly what Jesus did for his entire ministry. We may even be the recipient of ‘good’ from others and we have an opportunity to pay it forward to others who are least expecting it. It means being able to support and hold up others when they need help.
