Certainty

Luke 24:21-24(NIV)

21 but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. 22 In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning 23 but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24 Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”

The biggest news that came out last week was the decision for the United Kingdom to leave the Euro Zone.  That caused all of the financial markets to plummet as there is now a lot of uncertainty about the EU’s future and whether other countries will follow suit.  The younger generation is also uncertain about their future job and lifestyle prospects as their country is leaving the Euro Zone.

When Jesus died on the third day, many of the disciples who followed him had some uncertainty about their future.  They spend time and energy following Jesus and now they were not sure what was going to happen.  Jesus made promises and declaration about the future kingdom and the disciples felt lost and abandoned.  These two guys recalled others going to the tomb and not finding the body, but they were still did not understand the promise that Jesus made.  Jesus promised that he would die and be raised on the third day.  Since he kept this promise, I can now be certain that I am not running this journey in vain.
