Boxing Day

1 Corinthians 9:24-27(NIV)

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

In the world, Boxing Day is about sales and receiving gifts.  Boxing Day became primarily known as a shopping holiday like Black Friday.  Boxing Day is not about fighting for bargains, but it would seem like it when fighting for a parking spot and having to persevere in the line-ups.

Paul had his own battle to deal with those who opposed him.  He provides a plan on how to compete and how he has focus.  He doesn’t run aimlessly or as a boxer beating the air.  He takes the hits and perseveres in all circumstances and focuses on the end result.  This end result is for the prize of heaven.  Life is a battle and we need to fight back against Satan and his schemes.
