Born of Man
1 John 4:7-12(NIV)
7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
I was listening to a sermon on the radio and the pastor said that when children are born, they are not pure innocent angels. Inside their hearts is the root of sin in which there is selfishness and rebellion. It’s up to the parent to guide and to teach these children with wisdom and the right path. This is because the children are not born of God, but born of man. I just have to look at myself and see that we have a sinful nature and it cannot be suppressed until we get help from God.
The Bible says that love comes from God and those who have been born of God knows God and has the capability to love like Jesus. Jesus provided the example for us on how to love others unconditionally. It is not easy since we can so easily go back to our sinful nature of selfishness and greed or any other character trait that is not according to God’s will. It helps to think about what God has done for us. Those who have been born again and have received the grace and the love of God will be compelled to love others and to live for Him. It can be easy to get caught up in life and not reflect on the love that God has for you and me.
